It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!!!!

Dear Friends and Family,

Ahhh, I had grand intentions of writing a witty family letter this Christmas...

Actually, that's a blatant lie. I sent lame photo cards with nary a message on them. Shame! And instead of a Christmas note here on the blog (because you can just read back if you really want to), I thought I'd catalog all the fun we're going to have over the next 24 days...because then I won't feel guilty of blog neglect during this wonderful and busy Christmas season.

Over the next 24 days, we plan to...

*Put up the Christmas lights
*Chop down a Charlie Brown tree (hopefully one that we find neglected in an abandoned field or something--FREE!)
*Listen to Christmas music, and only Christmas music (unless that horrid "Christmas in the Northwest" song comes on, at which point I'll hand EmJ the iPod, shove the headphones in her ears, and crank up "You Belong With Me-he-ee..." because listening to EmJ sing is actually less painful than listening to that one song that has the potential to ruin Christmas altogether...)
*Read a Christmas bedtime story every night
*Read about another country's Christmas traditions every day (EmJ's idea)
*Study the Savior's ministry for family scripture study, backwards, hitting all the cool stuff (as Willie says), culminating in reading Luke 2 on Christmas Eve, of course
*Admire my houseful of Christmas decor
*Sit on my comfy couch consuming a Costco sized case of hot chocolate while admiring my houseful of Christmas decor
*Go caroling to a nursing home (okay, I know I'm getting ambitious, we may only carol to Luke's grandma, and we may only sing one song, but the tradition will grow with time, right?)
*Decorate our mini-tree with mini-ornaments from the awesome advent calendar my mom made for us (Thank You!)
*Attend numerous Christmas parties and other festivities
*Play in the snow (crossing my fingers)
*Eat snowcones (crossing my fingers again)
*Deliver plates of goodies and cinnamon jelly (already made!) to our friends and neighbors and save most of the good stuff for ourselves...
*Have a Brazillian feast on Christmas Eve eve (in honor of Zack)
*Enjoy the real Christmas Eve with whatever it is we decide to do...but there will be eating, and nativities, and opening up new jammies
*Drive around and admire Christmas lights
*Watch George C. Scott's "A Christmas Carol" and "While You were Sleeping" (rewinding the part where the paperboy falls off his bike to watch over and over and over again laughing harder each time...)
*Simply love the season, remembering with gratitude the reason for which we celebrate. The birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Have a very merry Christmas! We love you all very much! See you in 2010!

With love,

Kirs, Luke, EmJ, Willie, Gus, the Boss, and Twinkie
