Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
We have enjoyed a snowy Thanksgiving week, complete with school cancellations and the addition of "Uncle Rico" to our family. Sorry the picture is so dark, it took us a long time to build Uncle Rico...actually, it took Luke a long time to build Uncle Rico while Sam sat inside, Gus stood around pouting, EmJ watched and talked Luke's ear off, Willie refused to help in favor of playing with friends, and Reillee spent a greater part of the day getting bundled, unbundled, diaper changed, rebundled, unbundled, fed, etc...It was a joyous day of loving family togetherness...mostly.
We had to laugh as reports kept coming in of cities without power. 52,000 without power in Tacoma, 47,000 without power in Olympia, 398 without power in Seattle. 398? 398? Seriously, that warranted a report? 397 of those people haven't paid their electric bill in 6 months, and the 398th unplugged her TV and said, "Bummer, the power is out, guess we can't watch any more Dora!" *whistles innocently*
Anyway, it has been a wonderful week and we are thankful for the opportunity to reflect on the past year, the good and the bad, and express gratitude for all of our blessings. We put up a gratitude wall this year, with the goal being that we would each write something we are thankful for every day. In addition, every person that came into our home this month had to put something on the gratitude wall. Some of my favorites....
Ho-Hos
Modern medicine
A visiting teaching companion
Luke
Cookies
Snow
The manna-mobile
Capitalism
Spongebob
God's patience
Health insurance
A warm house
Playing with Grandma and Grandpa
Karate Kid
Best buddies
(Willie wrote "best buddies" on day one, and has spent a majority of the month placing each of his friends' names on the gratitude wall. Love that kid.)
Indeed, we have much to be thankful for.
I will leave you with a bit of George Washington's Thanksgiving Day Proclamation (which is worth reading in it's entirety):
"Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and whereas both houses of Congress have...requested me to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God....to be devoted...to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection..."
And now, we eat!
